We use anti-bacterial soaps and cleansers to make sure that our hands are clean after we shake hands or touch things.
Your pillow can be the big factor in your wellness.
Aspergillums fumigatus is a fungus that can live in your pillow, and may cause a disease that can rob you of your ability to breathe if you have any type of respiratory illness, and may also cause infections in those who are immune-suppressed.
The first real study of bedding that centered on contamination by fungus took place in 1936. More recent studies published today, in science and medical journals studied pillows after one to two years of daily use.
Many types of pillows were studied, including feather, neoprene, and other synthetic materials. Synthetic pillows were found to hold the Aspergillums fumigatus in greater numbers, but other fungi were also discovered, including vine and leaf molds, and some molds customarily found on shower walls.
Aspergillums is common in the household and can be carried via air as which can also be found in basements, plants, compost, pepper and spices, and even your computers. Aspergillus’s, the disease that is induced by this fungus, will primarily occur in your lungs, but may also spread to other organ groups, including the brain, and may cause death in some patients.
At particular risk are those who have endured transplants, undergoing treatment with steroid therapy, or dealing with other disease processes which suppress the immune system.
Aspergillums can exacerbate respiratory problems such as asthma, especially in adults, and may cause serious sinusitis in patients who have allergies. Aspergillums may not only intensify other problems, but may also cause problems for those who are not ill; creating just a general feeling of ill health that can't be pinpointed.
